It is never an excuse that “there is no other weekend” to schedule a new festival on the same weekend as the FPAC that has been promoting everything Filipino for 16 years! We have 365 days in one year. I am sure there are other weekends , huh? It is a disrespect to FPAC who has done nothing (with imperfection, yes, but what festival or organization is perfect?) for many years but to promote Filipino culture AND instill pride. We do not have a big community yet. In fact, the attendance at FPAC appears to decrease every year. This is one of the reasons it’s taking us a long time as a community to advance to our full potential. We love competing amongst ourselves and for what reason? Let’s UNITE and not DIVIDE people! Stop the crab mentality!

With all due respect, Marko, this article didn’t “create unecessary drama,” it reported it — something I didn’t see any of our so-called community media, save for Kababayan LA, do at all. And for that alone, Pinoylife.com should be applauded.

Don’t trudge down the same, tired-ass slippery slope of blaming the messenger and message. Rather, dig a little deeper and call out the source(s) that caused this all. Who knows. With more journalistic vigilance, perhaps we’ll see “unecessary drama” in our community drop like (insert any Mexican fighter here) at the hands of Manny P.
