Charice-Mania is running wild! (on daytime tv)

September 15, 2008 · Posted in General, Links, Music, Videos

Charice Pempengco keeps impressing the masses and now she’s gotten the attention of French Canada’s gift to the world – Celine Dion.

On September 9, 2008, daytime talkshow host Oprah Winfrey had the young Pinay perform on her show only to surprise Charice with a video greeting from Celine Dion where she invited Charice to sing a duet at the Celine Dion concert in Madison Square Garden.  As much as Celine’s music immediately kills any sex drive and alcoholic buzz in my system, that is an impressive accomplishment for young Charice Pempengco.

If you don’t know her name yet, you better learn it fast because she is on her way to be the next big thing.

Not to be an ass, but I think the only thing that catapults Charice Pempengco to stardom is her age. Would she be getting this much publicity if she was 25? I mean, why doesn’t Oprah have Lani Misalucha or Lea Salonga guest on her show?

Charice and sexual drive in the same paragraph doesn’t sound right.

Back to the topic, CHA as in the incomplete spelling of Chairface Chippendale on the moon and RICE for the food eaten by most Filipinos, Charice is destined for history.

@Valleypinoy, you have a point there, david foster accidentally discoverd celine Dion at the age of 17 singing on a tent, age is really a big factor, because both of them have talents way beyond their years, this is gonna be a simple case of a coal turning into a diamond with the help of oprah and david.. aren’t we all glad on how things worked out for her? and you gotta hand it to charice.. the girl can sing.. really! i was a skeptic.. then when i saw her on oprah.. i was a believer.. bought her first single “Note to God”

Valleypinoy, the reason why Oprah did not invite Lani and Lea on her show because you can find somebody like them or better than them anywhere in the U.S. They have beautiful voices, but not great. Lani has been in Las Vegas for so many years, and yet, nobody signs her up for a record deal. Just like what David Foster has said on his interview, “There’s a lot of great singers out there. They come up and sing, they can even have a hit record, but you’re like, ‘hmm… that’s not really turning me on.’ People’s jaws drop when they hear her (Charice) sing. She’s spellbinding.”
David Foster: When my sister and a friend of mine from Warner Brothers called me within 10 minutes of each other, sending me the link from YouTube. Then shortly thereafter Oprah found it and she told me about her and had her on the show. It was interesting, that oscar night. It was kind of a rowdy crowd. I was up on stage with a couple of other performers… very, very difficult to get them to quiet down and when Charice came on, the place went silent. The girl packs a wallop like I haven’t seen since Whitney and Celine.
    Enough said …
